Cells and Microscopes I

In Activity 1 you saw that we are now quite sure that living things are made up of cells.
However, this was not always so.
The invention of the microscope at the end of the sixteenth century and its development during the seventeenth led to the discovery of cells. Further investigation showed that all living things were made up of cells.

Before you learn more about cells, you need to learn some things about the light microscope.
