The Nuffield Research Project
Practical Astronomy in Schools
with the Bradford Robotic Telescope

The production of this project was funded by the Nuffield Research Foundation to promote the teaching of astronomy in schools and using the latest developments in the technology of the Bradford Robotic Telescope to help produce research projects on varying aspects of astronomy.

The skeleton of the project was to introduce 12 schools to the Internet and provide them with six National Curriculum based projects. We have however surpassed this and have an extra 43 schools completing the projects using a 'mailing system' or their own Internet connections. These projects are concise and malleable for adaptability in the classroom and have been age-ranged for information purposes. They are all concerned with key stages within the National Curriculum and are in a 'least work for the teacher' format.

The projects have been written by teachers at Rhodesway School in Bradford and were edited and updated by Leonnie Rowlinson with help and assistance from the EIA team at Bradford University. The projects are now available to download from the Internet for use in schools and colleges throughout the world via the www. This has been made possible by the EIA team in the Department of Industrial Technology at Bradford University.
