In a third class lever

- the effort is closer to the fulcrum than the load
- the effort and load are in opposite directions
- a third class lever is a speed multiplier
- you can move a load through a greater distance than the effort moves in the same time
- since speed is equal to distance moved divided by time taken, the load moves at a greater speed than the effort.
